The Making of The Coastal Collection with Crown & Ivy
Working with Crown & Ivy is one of those partnerships that feels natural every time we come back to it, which made the opportunity to partner on our third collection with them even more exciting! We’ve built a rhythm together, and with each collection, it feels like we get even better at creating pieces that really reflect an embody life on the coast. For me, coastal living isn’t just a look, it’s a feeling — mornings filled with salty air, relaxing strolls downtown, and coming home to a space that feels relaxed but still pulled together. Creating The Coastal Collection brought that feeling to life, and I remember seeing the first round of samples and thinking, this is going to be really good.
When we started designing, staying true to Charleston was a given. From soft blues, sun-washed neutrals, and hints of classic navy, to hand-illustrated patterns that feel timeless without trying too hard. My favorite part of the design process is always that early stage where ideas are still loose and big ideas come out to play. Working alongside the team at Belk to sketch, pull inspiration, and figure out how everything is going to come together, is such a fun process for me to be a part of. What people might not expect is how much time goes into refining the small details like scale of a print, matching the exact tone of a blue, or exploring how something will actually live in someone’s home. At the end of the day, we want people to feel like these pieces fit into their life effortlessly. Regardless of the occasion you're dressing for, the event you're hosting, or the space you're putting the finishing touched on, it should feel comfortable, familiar, and just a little bit elevated.
Behind the ScenesMany of my favorite moments from this collection happened behind the scenes. Getting to see the designs laid out for the first time during our meetings, and then watching everything come to life at the photoshoot. There’s always a moment on set where it all clicks, and the products are styled perfectly, the lighting hits just right, and you can actually see the story we’ve been building come together in real life.

Q: Do you have a favorite piece in the collection? Why?A: I always lean toward the pieces that feel the most versatile. I'm really loving the seersucker pieces in this collection. They have a timeless feel and something I find myself reaching for again and again. Another favorite feature that we included on each of the Women's dresses - pockets!
Q: What do you hope people feel when they bring these pieces home?A: You know that feeling you get when you’re on vacation and everything just feels a little lighter, a little more fun? If these pieces can bring even a bit of that into someone’s everyday and make their home feel more vibrant, more lived-in, more enjoyed, then we did exactly what we set out to do. I hope these pieces make you feel more present and encourage you try new things.
